Alexandra Sullivan

 

Alexandra is a first year GK-12 fellow and a doctoral student at CUNY - Graduate Center in Geography (Earth and Environmental Sciences Program) with a concentration in Food Studies. She has a BA in Environmental Science with a minor in English Literature from Franklin and Marshall College, and a MA in Geography from CUNY - Hunter College. Her research interests are in alternative food systems, food pedagogy, political ecology, participatory democracy, solidarity economies, diverse economies, mass consumption, and foodways.

At Baruch College Campus High School, Alexandra worked with two 12th grade Environmental Science teachers (Lauren Loizides and Anna Poole) and their students to develop an ARM that focuses on connections between food and the environment, human health, policy, culture and business practices, and culminates in a food commodity chain research project.
