Michael Hojnacki

Michael Hojnacki is a teacher at the High School for Environmental Studies (HSES).  He became a teacher through the New York City Teaching Fellows, a program dedicated to placing individuals from diverse educational and professional backgrounds into New York City public schools.

Prior to this program, Michael received his Bachelor of Science from Fairfield University in Connecticut majoring in Biology with a concentration in Molecular Biology and minor and Psychology.  He continued his studies of biology at Wake Forest University School of Medicine for the next two years where he studied microbiology and immunology.  Michael then took a position with Mitsubishi International Corporation (MIC), a global integrated business enterprise where he developed business relationships between Japanese and American companies.

After five years at MIC, Michael decided to go back to his biology roots and pursue a career in teaching and joined the Teaching Fellows program in 2007.  Since then he has been teaching various science courses at HSES including Living Environment, Environmental Seminar, Science Research, and AP Biology.  As a teacher Michael hopes to inspire New York City students to pursue a career in the sciences.
